Did some old school today. Didn't feel like changing out the blade on my bandsaw so whipped out the coping saw to make the headstock cuts.

I have a few projects happening and trying to find time between house renovations is kind of difficult. The next in this series is a five that was started about 2008. The finish didn't work out so I believe I will strip it and go for an oil finish. The hardware for this is Hipshot individual bridges, Gotoh machine heads and Kent Armstrong pickups. The neck is Ipe, body wings are Sipo with a holly layer and the top is Ziracote, Ebony and Holly. Ebony fretboard and headstock overlay.

I little back slide. This Teak five string has been sold but I opened it up to clean up the tone caps. Changed the values and switching arrangement so its .05 uf normal and switching to .07 uf for slightly deeper lows.

Starting to chip away at the failed lacquer finish. Back when it was sprayed I was distracted and it got left out in the sun. Well the finish blistered and I was never able to recover from it. It kind of worked but you could see where every blister was under the surface so off it comes. I am working on a n oil finish on my personal six string and given the results so far I believe this will get an oil finish as a replacement.

While I'm applying finish to a Carvin I have another thread going on for I am getting to sand back the failed lacquer finish on this ziracote topped five string. I'll be putting a tung oil finish on it as well.
