Time to switch to Dunlop Super Brights!!!

Might give them a try pretty soon. The thing I'm really liking about the regular Dunlop nickels is that on a naturally bright Bass, they sit pretty much in the middle of the tonal spectrum and with technique and EQ they can take you either direction. Opens up a wide playing field and have been very versatile for me as some one who plays with different people and requires two vastly different tones. Though they were "Bleh" the first time but saw the beauty once revisited.

I tried a set of the Marcus millers and they were the worst strings I ever bought. They wouldn't grip onto the tuning pegs and were completely useless.
Once I had them all tuned up (while they were basically trembling, holding on for dear life on the tuning pegs), they were so fret buzzy/uneven that they would have required a whole new set up with a truss rod and bridge adjustment. No matter though, they became de tuned within a few minutes again on their own.

Yeah, I totally know what you mean. The last time I saw Marcus Miller play he was having the same issues. He said he likes the strings to always be on the verge of detuning because it keeps him on his toes during performances. Seriously?? I've never read such BS about a string set in my life. Please enlighten us as to your stringing procedure. Even coated strings like Elixirs, DR Neons, etc do not just slip off of tuning pegs.

um, I know how to string a bass considering I've been doing it for years and years now without any problems until I bought that specific set of strings. I even tried it with different basses, as well as body thru and just through the bridge. It did it with all 4 strings with both basses/methods I tried. You can call it BS if you want, but that was the problem I was having and it had never happened before (or since), and I've used a lot of different strings (including coated and flats).

Did you contact Dunlop? I'm sure they would want to see a set of strings that just could not stay on the tuning posts.

I've been a Rotosound user for 29 years. I've tried others over the years but always go back. On a side note, the 2nd and 3rd frets of the E string on my CIJ Geddy Lee Jazz have always been a little "choked off". Not dead spots, but they did not have nearly the amount of sustain as any other fretted note on the entire neck. Not a huge deal but drove me crazy just the same. Lately, I've been on a string kick. I've re-tried Ernie Balls and for the first time, both D'Addario and DR. Not impressed with any and the fret issue remained with all. I decided to try one last string and ordered a set of the Dunlop SuperBright Nickel 45 - 105. All I can say is WOW! And lo and behold, I no longer have the issue of the choked off notes. Not sure why this is but I don't care. The sound and feel of these strings are phenomenal. I've only had one gig and I want to see how they are once they settle in. But I already feel that this will be a permanent change.

My friend I've been doing the same thing and even the SAME brand strings! DR Fatbeams and Neons, Daddario Prosteels, Ernie Ball. Rotosounds have always been my string of choice. I have a set of the Superbrights on my G&L L2000. Maybe I'll pick up another set?

I thought I liked DR Sunbeams until I got a set of Super Bright Nickels. They sound great on my DJ5 and TL6 and today I put a set on my 55-01 with ChiSonics and they brought that bass to life. The highs returned and the 55-01 sounds better than ever. Still have to put a set on my 55-02 tomorrow.

The set on my DJ5 has lasted about 4 months and 5 gigs, still bright and crisp, but I have 7 basses that I rotate through.
