I wasn't a big fan back when they were popular either, but I've really come to appreciate them in recent years. And if you only "heard" the SMS movie, you owe it to yourself to watch the film (to which @SactoBass has conveniently provided a link). I don't usually care much about stage shows -- only the music -- but this one (and the great cinematography) really enhances the music rather than distract from it.

Just watched this again tonight. Haven't seen it since my teen years. More fun than I remember . Great band. Tina is amazing to watch and very easy to groove to.

Belew only played with TH for a short time: He was working with David Bowie a year earlier and joined King Crimson a year later.

Word on the street is that Tina and Chris Frantz actually wanted him to replace Byrne as the front man in Talking Heads. He declined, but did appear on some of their later Tom Tom Club stuff.

Like most of us, I see Tina has suffered from some unfortunate fashion choices. The more I listen to the Talking Heads the more I like them. Tina is great in my book.

Great interview. One of the best I've ever read/listened to.
JMJ's comments in Tina were very on point . I gained a lot of insight into his mindset as a bassist as well. This guy is very wise , talented but also very low key . He often gets overlooked as do most with his style of playing but he is excellent at all the different hats he wears . Great bassist.

I've been listening to Tina's lines lately, and what impresses me is that though the Talking Heads are thought of as punk or new wave and beyond, her lines are rooted in traditional '60s Soul, funk, and R&B. Really solid stuff that works with that band. Great foundation.

Is Tina Weymouth any good? I can't tell ... I've been watching the Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense" DVD, and it really bugs me the way the fingers on her left hand flail around like that. She seems to have a groove, but her technique is suspect. She was having trouble with articulating note lengths on a couple of the tunes. Help me out here.

Love her so much. Got lucky enough to open for Tom Tom Club a couple of times. She gave me a compliment on my playing that I will take to my grave. Have met and played with lots of famous peeps over the years, but will always remember....
