Separately, subscribed. I love my D800+, and I know I can drive a preamp into the effects return of it, but something small with lots of watts and 2ohm capable is also intriguing to me.

Separately, subscribed. I love my D800+, and I know I can drive a preamp into the effects return of it, but something small with lots of watts and 2ohm capable is also intriguing to me.
That’s what I do but it’s about form factor. If you open up the subway, I don’t think that the components needed to make a separate power amp version. Would require a Box more than 1/3 of the size of the amp. A small box that I could just throw on a board and use with a board mounted preamp would be really kind of nifty.

About how many watts are you wanting to see? Are you just wanting a one channel amp or stereo?

LOL, I have shelves full of prototypes that never made it into production, but I often go back and revisit elements of these prototypes as I develop new products.
That’s exactly why I suggested the powered Barefaced cab as a potentially better option.
A power amp only version of the D-800 would only save 3” of depth. Certain spacing are required to comply with safety and EMC regulations. IF we were to build non-compliant equipment, we might be able to shrink it a little more, but that’s not an option for us.

I would not own a Carvin branded can opener at this point in time. Carvin, as we knew it, ceased to exist several years ago when they declared bankruptcy and voided the warranties of every product they ever sold. The brand "reopened" a week later as a Chinese importer. I don't trust them.
Note: Kiesel is a completely separate company and has been for more than a decade. Kiesel runs a tight ship, good people there.

Not what I’m after as I have a lot of passive cabs that I love, but it does bring up a tangential point.
The Bag End cabs I have are also available with an internal power module. (Most if not all of my cabs are 25+ years old, so way before the powered option.)
I always wonder why the power modules used in powered cabinets aren’t available as external units, but I suppose it could have to do with the regulatory issues Andy mentioned.

In part regulatory and in part the processing (on the quality powered speakers) is model dependent.
Bag End’s website is wonky at the moment. But I seem to remember that they might sell the power module aftermarket but it’s meant to be Installed in the cabinet. I’ll have to give them a call. I don’t think that’s the route. I really want because I’d rather have something independent. I think it’s all the same module and they’re just adjusting the game and the maybe hp filter.
I think the best best out there is older/used GB Shuttles. I use mine just for the power amp as much or more than I use it as a conventional amp head. I'm surprised that more manufacturers haven't gotten wise to supplying a 1/4" aux input.
Tangential Question for the OP: It seems like you are trying to have all of your amplification on a pedal board, am I right? When you do that, don't you have a fairly long cable run to your speakers? What kind of cable does one use in that case? I've been told regular instrument cables are not optimal from amp to speakers.
PS: I think it would be cool if Quilter offered a power amp like you are suggesting. I don't believe the BB800 does 2ohms.

Not necessarily, but it’s possible I’d put the poweramp on the board.
In that case I would use what you always use to connect a poweramp to speakers: speaker cable. That might be 15’ tops.
