Tips for a new fretless bass?

The only fretless I've owned was a mim fender jazz i bought used for $300. Actually really liked a lot of things about the bass. But it was just really weird switching back and forth between my 7 string to such a narrow 4 string neck. I really enjoyed the tone i could get out of it. It had that classic woody fretless type sound. Very different from the ebony board warwicks and roscoes I've tried which i would describe as more of a modern fretless sound. Personally right now i don't have much need for a fretless but if i had the money id probably get an ns omni bass 5 string setup eadgc. I think it would be a blast to be able to have the omni bass on a stand so i could swing my 7 string behind me, walk up and play the omni bass for a section of a song here or there. Then switch back and play my 7 string.
