Tired, annoying phrases

Yolo? That's the name of one of my dogs! But his name is Nahuatl (the language of the ancient Aztecs), spelled "Yollo" and it means "the cunning one". Couldn't be more fitting, since the freakin' dog is smart to an annoying degree.

Smart dogs can be a hand full. I have a beagle mix that is too smart for her own good. Also very stubborn, which is common to the breed. While she was still being house trained she figured out how to use a door knob. Lost my deposit on that apartment.

"Up to snuff"

"You silly goose"

(In response to the serious question "what time is it?"):"time for YOU to get a WATCH!"

"Touch base"

"Go Dutch/going Dutch"

Using the word "tryna (trying to) " instead of saying "going to" or "want to"

"Trololol"

"You mad bro?"

Incorrectly using the word "bro" ("bruh" "breh")

......using......too many......dots...........................................................when typing.....

And then writing something all the way down here

Part 2 coming soon

Redundancies kill me (literally). <------ That's a joke.

"hot water heater" - If the water is already hot, then why would one want to heat it?

"Raise that window up." - As opposed to raising it down?

"Write a brief summary." - I hear this all the time at school. Is there such thing as a long summary?

"evolved over time" - I have heard this one used by several of my professors as well. "Evolved" implies "over time" does it not?

"past experiences" - As opposed to future experiences?

"sand dune" - I live near the coast. I have often wondered if there are snow dunes, or dirt dunes, or gravel dunes.

"visible to the eye" - No explanation needed.

"added bonus", "cash money", "rough estimate", "same exact", "fall/fell down", "join together"

And my personal favorite that pertains directly (redundant) to this thread is "overused cliche'".

Yes, there is.

"visible to the eye" - No explanation needed.

I have never heard that phrase but I have heard and read "visible to the naked eye" and that one is not redundant. You are right though, if not visible to the eye what would it be visible to ? The elbow ?

Yes, there is.

sum·ma·ry
/ˈsəmərē/
Noun
A brief statement or account of the main points of something.
Adjective
Dispensing with needless details or formalities; brief: "summary financial statements".
Synonyms
noun. abstract - resume - synopsis - digest - precis
adjective. concise - short - succinct - brief - compendious

Being that the word "brief" is actually in the definition, then by definition (literally) a summary is brief.

You people are far too easily annoyed. Thats annoying.

I seent it!
:p:p:p I knew someone would get it. Thanks Matticus.
I have a friend who says this all the time and I let it irritate me. What do I care how he talks, but for some reason when he says "I seen your friend on Market Street yesterday." It just bugs me. I have tried to correct him but to no avail. The odd thing is he is a very educated man. He has a masters in Psycholgy and a BA in at least one other subject. He judges people by their level of education. (another subject entirely).
