I have discovered, since his passing, that Tom Petty put out some really great stuff after Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers.

Great suggestions, now to chase down some LPs and CDs, I need to put together another memory stick for those Wendover, Mesquite, and Las Vegas drives, another reason new music is needed.

I was stationed in England 1974-1976, some really good stuff never really made it over here, or not like it should have. E.G., Wishbone Ash, Snow Goose, Camel, Mott the Hoople, Pink Fairies, and the like.

If you want to stay within that era, delve deeper into some of the more obscure music of artists that did not receive much airplay. Some that come to mind are Blackfoot, Traffic, Lita Ford, Dio, Frijid Pink, Mountain, Jo Jo Gunne, The Chambers Brothers and so on . . .

Newer stuff I like are Stone Temple Pilots, Collective Soul, and of course some of the grunge was pretty good. I really need to discover some of the old Hard Rock, just not too hard!

Exactly, now getting hard to find, lucky I put most of my albums on 10 1/2" reel to reels, lost most of my albums in a contentious divorce.

Speaking of hard to find, what are the best sources for some of this stuff? Syracuse Utah is pretty much the middle of nowhere. No good radio around these parts since the early Sirius days (it pretty much bites since the merge IMO, really miss the Deep Cuts channel).

I was where you were all I listened to was Cream Hendrix Doors etc. then a buddy of mine put me on to John Coltrane Sly& the family stone and Weather Report now I've submerged myself with that

How about Thin Lizzy, early Judas Priest, Johnny Winter, Faces, early Scorpions (w/ Uli Roth), Rainbow (with Dio on vox). Pink Floyd Animals and Meddle are my favorites, and were NEVER played.

I was stationed in Germany from '72-'74. Some of the opening acts were just as good as the headliners, i.e. Mud opened for Suzi Quatro and Back Door opened for ELP.

If you cant find it on you tube, one of the better places is to check out the bargain bins at every music store you came across.

I’ve somehow swerved into electronic swing/big band stuff.

I have agree with you on the stagnant heavy rotation of classic rock. So tired.

My favorite obscure 70’s band is Crack the Sky. One of the best live acts I’ve ever seen.
