This +1. The first 5 Chicago albums are amazing.

What I did when in your shoes was to turn my attention to r&b and then eventually to funk. Start with the Stax and James Brown library and work from there.

I've been listening to and playing the same songs for so long that I'm risking serious burnout, and don't want to lose my love for them. Beatles, Cream, Creedence, Aerosmith, Grand Funk, Skynrd, Allman Brothers, etc. Stuff played on FM back in the day, now heard over and over on satellite.

What I need is the name of great bands I missed out on back in the day, or maybe bands that had only one or two great LPs. For instance I've never listened to King Crimson or The Stooges. Maybe stuff too hard, heavy, or controversial for terrestrial radio back then.

So who else am I missing out on?

This is gonna sound dumb but there are some of the best bass lines in the Jim Croce catalogue.

I found this band by accident on YouTube. Girlschool can rock just as hard as any male band from the 70s. They never made it in the USA. What a pity, they are excellent.

I live in the Phoenix AZ area and there is a low power FM station at 103.1 called KCDX that also streams on the web kcdx.com. They are 99% commercial free and they do play their fair share of typical 70's fare, but a lot of the times they dig up something from deep in the vault lol

I hear some old stuff and songs from the typical classic rockers, but not always the same old stuff. They play the studio versions of Peter Framton's songs, early Springsteen, pre- "Alive" KISS, King Crimson, stuff like that. Worth a listen.

The one thing that they have changed is they have a ~24 hour loop so if you listen at the same time every day within a half hour, you'll hear the same songs. They do reprogram the loop but I really haven't tried to figure out how many days they run with the same loop.

Anyway, just an option to hear some different stuff.

They were a mighty fine band. It is miraculous though in the fall of 1971 how they had simultaneous gigs in Stillwater MN and Hawaii. Sol;d them a blond Showman, just loved that band. Makes me want to listen to some Crow.

One of my Nephew's is a drummer without a band. He's really picky about who he plays with. Anyway, he's half my age and he and I get into recommending music to each other. I get him into the old stuff and he gets me into newer stuff. He just went to see John McLaughlin, Jimmy Herring and King Crimson with me. I went to see some bands he was into: Umphrey's McGee, Tauk, Consider the Source and Chan.

Oh yeah, very familiar with Yes, have all the albums, if nothing else the album covers are world class.
