Discount Tire is everywhere, and they'll fix a flat for nothing.
Big O is the cheapest place where I live, but it seems to me this is an anomaly.
Speaking from experience, the last time I bought tires I reviewed the road noise rating and bought a set that ranked among the quietest. The difference in how quiet my car was at highway speed was incredible. I'll never buy "loud" tires again.
I bought my Michelin PSS's from Costco for $135 each. Another tire store was rather shocked at the price...as in, really low.Invalid Link Removedis a great place to get info on tires, from fitment to user reviews to prices. I've heard good things about the prices at Costco as well.
I always used Discount when I lived in Seattle. Sadly, they don't exist here in KY.I've been getting car/truck tires from the same 2 companies for, oh, about 45 years now; Big O Tires, and Discount Tires. They've always had what I wanted; the service is (almost always) excellent; they fix flats for free; and - most important - they tighten my lug nuts with a torque wrench. So, when I'm trying to change a flat at night, in the rain, 20 miles out from Nowhere, Nebraska, I'm not jumping up and down on the lug wrench, trying to get the frickin' wheel off. Which has happened, actually - but not outside of Nowhere... And their prices ain't bad, either.![]()
One of my band mates owns an auto repair shop. He told me that quite often he can't buy tires at wholesale for what Costco sells them for at retail.I bought my Michelin PSS's from Costco for $135 each. Another tire store was rather shocked at the price...as in, really low.
I usually just go Craigslist and get good used ones. And have the local shop put them on. I've found some good deals.
I hear they like 'em loud at Big O.Speaking from experience, the last time I bought tires I reviewed the road noise rating and bought a set that ranked among the quietest. The difference in how quiet my car was at highway speed was incredible. I'll never buy "loud" tires again.
