I've been considering a Bongo for awhile and am still in the market. The pickup config was the most mystifying to me.
I must say that this thread has been one of the most educational on a practical matter that I have ever read on TBass.
Can't vote as I don't have one. Yet. But now I know which config I'm shooting for.

How much do you actually use the piezo control(s), Gunn? Does it add anything dramatic or substantial to the tone of the magnetic pickups, or is it more of a subtle thing?
My Carvin Bromberg 5 fretless has a custom GraphTech Ghost piezo system, and it sounds fabulous. In fact, I wish I'd ordered that option for both of my other two fretless instruments. I'm not yet convinced that it's worth the extra expense for a fretted bass, however.
