I have a few pieces of advise. First though, Ill give you a bit of background info on myself.
It´s true that Im still a young one..only 18. Now, I was never a really fat kid. I was unhappy with my body though. I weighed around 225 pound as of this past February (im also 6´)
I had the goal of losing weight in mind for about 4 years. I originaly planned to start going to the gym 4 or 5 times a week back when I was 14 (before I entered highschool). After about a week, I grew bored of it and gave up. I tried again at 16. I lasted about a month but since I didnt notice any weight loss change whatsoever, I gave up again. During this time, I gained weight faster and faster until I hit 200 pounds at 17. A few months before my birthday (last feb) I weighed in at 225.
After meeting some new friends that enjoyed going to the gym and after weighing myself one last time, I decided I had to try again. I figured it would be different this time.
It did turn out to be different. It wasn´t mainly due to these new friends though. At the same time I decided that I wanted to spend the next year on a student exchange program to spain (Im canadian). In my mind, it was absolutely necessary to look better by then. That´s exactly what I did.
I completely changed my eating habbits. I dropped all junk food, ate smaller portions during meals, and ate more often. I also refused to eat anything heavy late at night. This, combined with going to the gym 6 days per week, got me the results I wanted. They were a bit slow at first, but by the time september rolled around, I weighed 180 pounds.
I am now a strong believer that weight loss isnt as difficult as everyone thinks. You just need 2 things. One would be support from other people. The other would be strong reason for wanting to lose the weight. If you can find these, the rest is easy.
Ive now been in Spain for the past 2 months. I weigh 167 pounds now. I dont crave junk food, and I see my time at the gym as an escape from my busy life.
Im also much happier and a lot more confident.
