To knob or not to knob?

I see no screws in the pickguard.
If it's on with adhesive, you could lose that too and simplify it even more....and expose more of that nice wood.

We have similar thoughts! The pickguard is on with a couple strips of double-sided tape, although the pickguard fits so perfectly against the neck that the tape isn't really necessary.

I do like the stripped down look without the pickguard.

The idea of having no knobs is awesome to me, it looks so clean.

I know some people would hate the idea, but any future buyer could always just add knobs where and how they want, which would be a bonus if they want to have a massive active EQ setup.

I find the disc ussion of using knobs to enhance the guitars sound quite interesting since I am a very primitive knob user----Everything to bass

Agreed x3. If you don't use a pick the pickguard would seek like an optional add on like an ashtray, a finger bar or a pickupm cover. To be used when it enhanc es the appearance of the instrument ot has practical application given your style of playing

The pickguard actually has a function for me. On a few tunes that call for slap technique, it feels weird and I miss the thickness of the pickguard as my finger comes to rest against the bass. It feels like the G is a mile high without it. I could get used to it, of course.

Knobs are like shoelace holes. If there's enough to keep the shoe on - it's fine. Slip-ons look lazy and boots can be a pain to get into.
