To Me, Fender Is.......

To Me, Fender is...

...what keeps me from buying other basses.

I'm itching to buy a Steinberg or Sadowsky but I keep thinking - It isn't a Fender!

My loss.\

I tried to resist the Fender thing early on and got a Guild B-301 as my first "nice" bass (as played by the Bee Gees and the Plasmatics)...what a mistake. Neck issues and a lousy bridge design (like the gibson thunderbird)...actually made me quit playing bass.

Then about a year ago I bought a Squier (by Fender)...and got hooked again. And another Squier, and another Squier.

So, after a year I decided I'm still back into it and (since I got a new job instead of heading to the homeless shelter) I bought myself a 2012 American Standard P-Bass.

Now I'm unable to buy any other brand. The thing is so outstanding in every way...it honestly can't get any better.

So, when I look at Steinberg and start drooling...I instantly start thinking that my next bass should be a 2012 American Standard Jazz.

I realize I am lucky to have such problems.

...Leo's first experiments. We all know the validity of trial and error, and the scientific method. Leo kept going until he got it right, producing beloved classic archetypical designs, along the way. If 20 frets and timeless looks and sound are all you need, Fender's great. I need at least 21 frets, and prefer 24, which is why I do not own a Fender, at the moment. If they resurrect the J24 model with a thru-body bridge, I'll be among the first in line.

The new Fender Am Deluxe Jazz Basses are all 21 frets as are the Fender Custom Classic Custom Shop Jazz Basses. The retired Fender FMT Jazz basses are 22 frets and can be found used. I have a Custom Classic and a 5 string FMT and would highly recommend either one.

It can get SO much better, yes it can.

And go for the SteinbergER! ( Steinberg make Cubase not A bass!) You've already done the Fender thing,. so why not?
