To much Power?

I just picked up an Eden D410XLT, 8 ohms. I have an Ampeg SVP-PRO tube preamp and a QSC GX3 power amp. The rig sounds good, but a bit under powered. I thought about upgrading to the GX5 which is around 500 watts, 8 ohms per channel. After doing some research I found I can buy a new Crown XTi1000 for 339.00 and free shipping. 1000 watts bridged mono at 8 ohms, 1400 watts bridged mono at 4 ohms. One day I hope to pick up a D210XLT cab. Will the Crown be to much power?

i dont think its too much power- just use your ears! if the speakers arent handling the amount of power youre putting through- turn down (or add speakers)

I run an Acoustic Image Focus (900w) through an Aguilar GS212, and playing in a loud rock band, i never have to turn the power amp up past halfway!

No, not too much power, and if you add another 410 the XTI 1000 is still a good choice. A 210 would do better with an amp that can power your 410 from a single channel.

I run an Eden 410 xlt with a QSC plx 1200 watt power amp. The big amp pushes the 4x10 nicely and allows for more cabinets to be added if necessary. Honestly, though, any louder than this is getting a bit ridiculous. Having a bigger amp also allows you to run your preamp at a lower output level. This can cut down on extra noise added by boosting the gain higher with a less powerful amp. Crown makes great amps. Sounds like a winner to me.

a buddy of mine has offered me 200.00 for my GX3, so all I need to do is pay the extra 139.00 for the new Crown amp. Looks like I'll make out pretty good! Thanks Again!

This can cut down on extra noise added by boosting the gain higher with a less powerful amp.

Other way around--boosting the preamp signal and reducing the power amp gain tends to reduce the noise floor.
