To preamp or not to preamp

I have a Ibanez SR300 it has to single coils and a humbucker but it is passive. Here's is the sound I get plugging directly into the mic jack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kRMmfJGU3o

Should I go preamp?

Sounds fine to me. Why do you think you need an on board preamp?

yeah, while that may not have sounded that bad in that specific case, if you EVER want to be able to alter your sound, a pre-amp is nice, plus you might find one that gives you a tone that you find you love

I do alot of tapping. I'm just wondering if it will improve the sensitivity, so that I can get a clearer sound on my taps, and I would like a more aggressive punch to it. Maybe a modeler?
