What were the Specs on the Roscoe you played? Body/Top/Fingerboard/PU's/Pre? What amp did you use to drive the Bergantino's? They are glorious speakers. I've been using Bergies for several years. They are just wonderful and allow the true tone of the bass to shine!

It was a 5 string, Audere preamp and PU's i believe, wenge fretboard. The Guy did tell me the rest but I was too busy playing the thing.

I tried 2 berg rigs, First was an IP112 and HT112 played through a phil jones Pre-amp. Really clean but warm also. Great slap tone, great responce throughout the frequency range.

The 2nd rig was one of Dave Hall's bass heads into an NV610 and a NV215. Full on tube like dirt! It was THE TONE!!

Unfortunately, the local music shop in my small town has nothing worth playing.

Fortunately, I have been blessed with some nice basses. Played my Nordstrand SC5 yesterday.

I might get saucy and take my SX or my T-40 to church tonight.

As for as high-end stuff goes, I have played a couple of Roscoes (SKB3006 fretless was especially nice), Zon, Sadowsky, FBass, MTD..

A custom shop Fender P. It was nice and all and sounded great through the Phil Jones Suitcase but then I came home and played my old MIM P and it still just felt better in my hands. Though that Suitcase may be coming home with me soon.

A Flea Signature Modulus...

It just didnt blow my skirt up. It sounded alittle too dead to me.

I also played a EBMM Stingray.

It was cool, but I have some serious GAS for a Warwick

I played a couple of nice Zon's while visting Anchorage Alaska. This was the first time that I've really gotten the chance to spend some time playing Zon basses. The 5 string had a real nice phat tone and played real well. The graphite neck felt a bit strange but the more I played it the better it felt.

Even though it was fun checking out the Zon's, it's was still refreshing to come home and play my Roscoe 3006.
I've been playing them fairly exclusively for a little over 12 years and although I've also owned other nice high end basses, IMO nothing plays and sounds quite like a Roscoe.

I added it up the other day and I've owned 13 Roscoe's over the last 12 years. One thing I can state with confidence, regardless of the various option combinations, they have all had that great Roscoe tone and all have been very consistant in having high quality.
