Great video JMJ, much thanks for doing a video like this.

The only short fall IMO was the JMJ bassline of the homework. I had hoped it would’ve been one of your more complex parts, although I understand the logic to keep it fairly straight forward for Fender Play.

Hope to see you on Fender play in the future!

Go listen to the song Dynomite that I was talking about. It's not basic. it's a firm intermediate. :) I was just playing the dumb two note verse line. Seriously, go check it out. Solid homework for the mid-level fender play students.

I just meant that Dynomite, while it’s certainly not as simple as something like With or Without You, I meant it’s not as complex as say, your work on Sexx Laws or Paper Tiger.

Absolutely no offense intended.

Hah, I’d say Sexx Laws & Paper Tiger aren’t intermediate in any universe.

I’m not at all well versed in Fender Play, I haven’t spent any time with it and thought the courses were aimed at beginners. Which now looking back it wouldn’t have made any sense for a beginner to attempt Sexx Laws or Paper Tiger.

Btw, I wouldn't call Dynomite's main riff dumb. It's pretty cool how your first note is a D that slides up to an A when the song is in the key of A. Not exactly atonal but unexpected and cool.

That was a fun interview, thanks for sharing it. You mentioned sound design, I've been listening to Jim O'Rourke's Steamroom series and have been REALLY into it. Do you have any suggestions for other listening?

You're welcome. Other listening? If you're asking about electronic-based, at times "ambient" music that's heavy on the sound design, that's a vast, broad area over the past 60 years. Maybe: Anything from Jack Dangers/Meat Beat Manifesto, Alessandro Cortini, Hainbach, Ulrich Schnauss, Stars of the Lid, Boards of Canada, William Basinski, Telefon Tel Aviv, Suzanne Ciani, Drew McDowall, Coil, Eliane Radigue, Autechre, Terry Riley, Oneohtrix Point Never, Eno, Aphex Twin, Burial, Trentemoller, Richard Devine, The Orb, Cluster, Dome, Main, Scott Walker, Throbbing Gristle...I could go on and on and on.

Thanks! Lots I'm unfamiliar with there! Got some time to dive in these days between "homeschool" lessons. Maybe we'll listen to Music has the Right to Children for music appreciation tomorrow.
