Toe or Heel?

This becomes especially important when you're playing in a big ensemble. The sound of foots tapping can be deafening! Well seriously, when there's really quiet parts or pauses, you can hear the stomping, and it's distracting. Bonus if others have wonky timing but still tap their foot, it throws me off.

Neither. I tend to stomp my whole foot, especially when I'm sitting. When I am standing I sway back and forth. So I put carrots. But I suppose I toe tap sometimes.

I only tap when I play the cajon. Otherwise, for bass, mandolin or guitar, no tapping.

If I’m standing i tap my toes on my right foot.
If I’m sitting i tap my left heel.
It’s not a conscience thing and I’ve never thought about why it works like it does.

I move from one foot to the other as I shift weight from one leg to the other but actually don't remember whether I tap the heel or toe. . . that movement is on autopilot and I don't think about it.
