Tommy Shannon's Robin Bass. Do I have it?

Hello, I recently acquired a black and white Robin bass from a lady in Lumberton, TX. She says that it was Tommy's bass played on the Live Alive album. I've never owned anything with any history to it and have no intentions on reselling it. I would like to get it insured though. Is there any way to verify that this bass was once used by Tommy? The lady says her father and Tommy's father had a music store together at one time. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

It looks like Robin shut down operations in 2010 but the website might be able to provide a contact, who might know more about your bass.

I actually got a response back from the owner of Robin guitars.

"No way to confirm it by serial number or anything like that.

It sounds real to me.

I personally gave that bass to Tommy.

I went to his store also after the fact.

I would bet it is real.

Write everything down and print this email also.

It is really cool that you have that bass.

I was at the Austin Opry house when I gave it to him.

They were recording the Live Alive album

I also talked to Steveie alot that day.

I watched him superglue his calluses back onto his fingers also."

Very cool, and a blast from the past for me to see a Robin bass. When I worked in Houston many years ago, and had no money to buy bass gear, I would occasionally stop in the Robin Guitar store. I really wanted a Ranger Bass, same color as this one.

I thought they played and sounded great. Dusty Hill played Robin Basses as well. Enjoy that bass, and play the heck out of it!
