Does anyone know how to get kind of a jazz bass sound out of a Thunderbird? I play in a hardcore project, and like the sound of the Thunderbird, but I recently started jamming in a more mellow 3 piece indie band, and can't shake the thump of the thunderbird. I want more of the sound I got with my jazz bass before I got rid of it.(biggest mistake of my life) I'd like to just be able to get a jazz bass-is sound from the Thunderbird if possible. If anyone can give me any advise I would appreciate it.

Move the eq knobs or sliders on your amp until it sounds like you want it to sound. Also change the volume and tone knobs on the bass.

Besides EQ, you might try swapping to a brighter-sounding set of strings than whatever you have now: maybe SS strings and/or a lighter gauge, for example?

Just adjust the EQ on the amp. But I doubt you will get close to a Jazz bass sound with a Thunderbird. I don't know about anyone else, but I think a Thunderbird struggles to even get close to other bass tones and vice versa. That's how I felt when I had one anyway but other people might have better ideas on how. But yes you was very silly indeed to let go of your J bass!
