TOO HEAVY, URGENT!!!!cabz

ok i have a peavey tvx 410 wich is about 1 month old, i have played 2 gigs and many practises in this time which means alot of carting around, it has gotten to the point where this cab is inconvenient(mind my spelling:S) im 15 so its either my dad or a band mate helping move it and now its starting to be a problem, itsa going through a warwick profet 5.1 wich is also 1 month old,

i dont no if i should be cosidering a whole new rig, but im worried no1 will buy trhe cab due to its weight,

well anyway ive looked around (havent heard,) and whats catching my eye atm is the ampeg b410hlf-600watts at 4ohms and the swr workingpro 410-400 watts at 4 ohms,

so please help me out guyS!!!!!!!!!!!
URGENT!

Does it have casters (wheels) on it? If not, try having a set put on. It will help make it easier to move.

The other option is to check out some of the 2x10 cabs. Some of them can reach the lows of a 4x10 cab. They are also much lighter. The last thing to check into are Neodymium speakers. They are lightweight speakers with high powered magnets. Look at musiciansfriend.com to see examples.

Good Luck!

hmmm ... checking the specs online
tvx410 -- 96 lbs
B410HLF -- 88 lbs
Working Pro 410 -- 97 lbs

Right there the Working Pro 410 is out due to it weighing more than your current cab. The B410HLF is 8 lbs lighter than your current cab but, I doubt that will make much of a difference.

If weight really is an issue for you, I'd suggest that you look at a smaller cab like a 2x10, 1x15, or a 1x12.

What kind of music are you playing and what kind of gear are your band mates using?

Bass cabs are big and heavy. Try fitting a 2x12 and a 4x 10 in a civic, it's hilarous. Then try getting them out!

The point is it's just one of thosse things you're gonna have to learn to deal with. If your cab won't take wheels you can get a trolly or just buy some wheels and a board of wood and build one.

Mr. B!56, If your located in the USA I suggest.... Avatar 410 Neo cabinet. 1000 watt capacity, $399.00 plus shipping....weight....65 lbs.!
Park the Peavey at your rehearsal area...one less thing to carry in!
The Ampeg 410 hlf is a good sounding cab but it's gonna be as hard to carry around as your Peavey is.
This is just my opinion.... but I think your Peavey will have better highs and lows than the SWR WorkingPro series of cabs. Also, the SWR probably is only a few pounds lighter than the Peavey.
Here's another thought, Peavey has just released their light weight Neo speaker cabinets. I've not heard one, maybe you can check one out. Good luck!

casters
truck/dolly
modular speaker setup
neo cabs
switch to guitar :D

This is the one I'd recommend. I had been using 2 smallish 15" cabinets that both fit side by side in the back of my Corolla. I wanted to go with 10's and started shopping. Most of the 410's I tried out simply won't fit through my car door. Those that did would have eventually torn up the panels in the process of ingress/egress. So I decided to go with a couple 210's and expected to pay a few dollars more. After waiting a bit, I found a pair that cost exactly as much as that brand's 410 (all items bought used).

I can't belive it. Your 15 years old. At that age, I was trying all I could do to get my first 810 cab. Man , if your givin' up on haulin' equipment at your age, you might as well throw in the towel now. What would you do if you had to haul the PA system too? For years I owned and maintained the step van, built and hauled most all the PA system, plus hauled my 810 cab, and all my gear. I don't wanna' hear any whining, just because one cab is too heavy for you. I didn't stop hauling an 810 till I was disabled, at 50 years old. Now I haul two 410 cabs instead. Yeah I'm fat, and I sweat like a pig while doing it, but I love it enough to keep doing it. If I die from a heart attack while doing it, at least I'll die with a smile on my face. Come on Kid, get with the program here. Nothing comes easy, it all takes hard work.

I'm picking up an Eden D115 today to pair with a D210T I picked up a couple of weeks ago. These are a bit bigger than I was looking for, but I wanted the 115/210 rig as something easier to handle and will (hopefully) fit in my Corolla.
Like your dad, I'm getting my son to his gigs and helping with the schlep duties. I have a bad back and wince when I see others do what I did when I injured mine.
My son's Ampeg PR410 weighs 128 lbs. I've gotten to dread the thought of having to lug the beast around, so I can dig where you're going with this.

thanks shoot-r but im in aus! haha yeah im thinking maybe some wheels, but it is also quite large so i have difficulty even getting it in my perants 4 wheel drive ! :D

I didn't see that your an Aussie!! Man when I was over there in 1982, I didn't meet any Aussie's that weren't ready to kick some a@@ at any time. They would have called what your doing as wingein' Any Aussie worth his tucker, should be able to haul that stuff. Save your cash, get an old Holden Ute, and fill'r up with your stuff. I'd expect the kind of whining your doing from a kid from the states here, but an Aussie! No way!Not any of my mates over there, thats for sure. Aussie's are a tough breed mate! don't be lettin' your mates down. Harcore Punk you say?? Then get hard core, and do some hard work!!
