TOO HEAVY, URGENT!!!!cabz

Come on dude, moving heavy cabs is part of the deal when you play bass

I respectfully disagree. This *was* true ... 20 years ago. Or even 10 or 15 maybe. But today there are a ton of amazing lightweight solutions that DO NOT sacrifice tone for weight.

Heavy cabs are fine if you like them and choose to use them. But light and ultralight cabs with great tone are there for the choosing as well.

Cheers

thanks shoot-r but im in aus! haha yeah im thinking maybe some wheels, but it is also quite large so i have difficulty even getting it in my perants 4 wheel drive ! :D
No matter whether you keep the current rig or replace it, get thee to Bunnings and for $A30 you can get a removalists hand cart. Then spend another $A12 and get a couple of snatch-em type straps to hold it on better. Should be able to manouver through doorways more easily then too. Carrying gear is for bozos.

Sorry, but I just have to let this out.

If you are going to do a post, at least spell out the words.

please don't be like "Man, U no what m syin cuz i'm all like gunna go down there and, lol."

NO

please do not do that. In my opinion, it just makes people look stupid. Appropriate abbreviations are okay, and misspellings are okay, I am terrible at spelling. But please at least try to do it right.

Now on subject. I agree with what some of the people have been saying, toughin up man!

I'm fifteen and I'm loading and unloadingmy 125 pound ampeg 6x10 by myself. I'm not a football player or anything either, its just knowing how to use your weight.

oh yeah, lift with your knees.

and before you lift, don't think "oh my gosh this is so heavy," just think it's not going to be that bad. You'd be suprised at just how many things you can trick your mind and body into thinking.

This works for me too, except when I move my cab, a GK Backline 15" (70 lbs, not much) I actually think before I pick it up "Wow, this is going to be really heavy". Then, when I do pick it up, it seems a lot lighter.

I am not sure if that makes any sense to any one else, but it works for me.

ok i have a peavey tvx 410 wich is about 1 month old, i have played 2 gigs and many practises in this time which means alot of carting around, it has gotten to the point where this cab is inconvenient(mind my spelling:S) im 15 so its either my dad or a band mate helping move it and now its starting to be a problem, itsa going through a warwick profet 5.1 wich is also 1 month old,

i dont no if i should be cosidering a whole new rig, but im worried no1 will buy trhe cab due to its weight,

well anyway ive looked around (havent heard,) and whats catching my eye atm is the ampeg b410hlf-600watts at 4ohms and the swr workingpro 410-400 watts at 4 ohms,

so please help me out guyS!!!!!!!!!!!
URGENT!

Honey that Ampeg 410HLF weighs a TON! It is also very akward to move. I took one back for that very reason even though it sounded killer.

How light is light? 50-60 pounds is not light. It may be lighter compared to a 100+ pound cab, but it's not light.

But if you're comparing a 210 cab to a 410 cab, that's not a fair comparison...cause you'd be carrying 2 cabs instead of 1.
Sure, there are tons of solutions...at certain clubs you can bring a DI & have no amp at all...but is that what you really want?

thanks for all the advice and attention this thread has got

but you see i used to skateboard alot but ive had to give it up due to arthritus in my knee

i can barely run now little own lift heavy things, i can not use my knees to lift, i have to use my back, in witch case thats another thing thats going to limit what fun i can have further in the future

im sorry if i came across as winging i just dont want to dmage more body more than it already is

I didn't see that your an Aussie!! Man when I was over there in 1982, I didn't meet any Aussie's that weren't ready to kick some a@@ at any time. They would have called what your doing as wingein' Any Aussie worth his tucker, should be able to haul that stuff. Save your cash, get an old Holden Ute, and fill'r up with your stuff. I'd expect the kind of whining your doing from a kid from the states here, but an Aussie! No way!Not any of my mates over there, thats for sure. Aussie's are a tough breed mate! don't be lettin' your mates down. Harcore Punk you say?? Then get hard core, and do some hard work!!

This is actually 1000% correct, . . . . . . kids these days!

At 15 I had a tube head that was 80 watts and wieghed 100lbs, and a 2x15 cab that I put a handle on sideways so i could carry it like a suitcase up narrow stairs.

I can remember getting picked up on a guitarists bike and going to reherse carrying both our Instruments one in each hand and a bag of his pedals on my back, . . . those were the days.

Eh ... we used ta walk to gigs, 10 miles, up hill both ways, through 3 feet of snow, carrying Ampeg 8x10's on our back ... ya lazy little whippersnaper!

Sorry, but most of the posts here just remind me of all the stories my granddad used to tell about how life was so much harder in his day, and his generation so much tougher ... ;)

Cheers

And your Grandad was right too. Life was harder, and they were tougher.
