Too young?!

here in my town I have a friend who's a fantastic guitarist and has been playing 21+ shows at age 15.

It all depends on who owns the place you play at. No worries, keep searching around, you're bound to find someone who will look past your ages and see your playing.

whoever is telling that you are too young is either too old or is just jealous, tell them how old they are, that they are just too old to be cool

PS i dont think that you can be too old to rock but i just hate people that think you can be too young

There are a number of young guys here locally who get up to play in a couple of the local bars, if the owners approve and they have a parent supervising them. One of those kids is only 12...man, what an excellent young guitarist he is! The other are 16-18.

What sort of places are available in your area for live music? See if they will let you play if you have a parent with you. Also, check into church youth functions, local parties, festivals, etc. A young band can play places like there, where they might not be able to play in a pub.

You're not too young! No one is too young to make music!!!

Cherie :)

Im 17 also. Alot of people on this forum will tell you its harder to get on shows when you are younger but its not as hard as you think.

Where are you from?

Im in jersey and the music scene is so saturated over here its terrible. But ask around/look around/search on myspace for any kind of promoters or people that run local shows. Give them a call or send them a message. As you start playing more you will notice people will start coming to you and asking you to play shows.
