Took a Chance....Warwick NBD

Thanks SirMjac28.

I actually never even played a Warwick before. But now I'm a big fan.

If this is a sample of there mid range basses, I definitely want to give the high range models a try.

I liked this model (bass) for a few reasons.

1st, cost.....used is always good
2nd, I like to do my own set ups so I like the single piece bridge and didn't want to try to mess around with the 2 piece
3rd, I like the jazz p/u's, and thought if I didn't like the MEC's they'd be easy to swap out to something I'm familiar with versus the Humbuckers

Modding was a big part of the decision....but right now I'm thinking I might just keep it as is
How's the neck in comparison to a Jazz, a Precision and a Thunderbird?

You know what was cool to?

Hans Peter Wilfer, the founder of the company was the one who sent me the info.

Now that's customer service!!

Yeah, Hans is a very down to Earth owner. Very hands on....that's awesome. Congrats on the the Fortress!! She's a beauty!! Also, pretty cool you got a Rockbass that was made in Germany. I had thought by 2004, they had moved Rockbass production to Korea (now in China)...guess not! Sweet!

Noticed you said your next might be a Thumb.... I highly recommend it! LOVE my 2006 fretless Thumb NT. Work of art!

I love that sunburst and have a very similar one on my bass. I don't know why more companies don't offer that type of "brown" burst as opposed to the common one with a lot of yellow in it. Yellow is my least favorite color and it ruins most burst finishes for me. Anyway, the Fortress is my favorite Warwick body shape, and yours turned out to be MIG. You scored there.

Nice score!
R.I.P ?
Is the tone similar to a Jazz bass with those PU's?
I've been interested in a Rock bass 4 passive.

Now that I cranked it up, id have to say no, it not as growley as a stock American Jazz Standard....it's kind of in between a P and a J.....it's a tone all its own. Something you can really get into.

Maybe not the best for jazz if that's what you play.....but that's IMO

I'm starting to see why Robert T. loves these basses, it really fits his style......you got to try one man

I don't think I've ever seen a bass that looked so smooth. Like just looking at it and having never played a warwick before I get the impression that it just plays so well.

It does man!....I can't belive I've played for over 30 years and this is the first Warwick I've tried.

I guess its just because you don't see a lot of them.

But if you see one, grab it and play, and let us know what you think.....I'm sure you'll be stoked!!

I thought that bass was new?
No.....its a oldie but goodie

Looks like the bridge may have been upgraded? That was always the worst part of the old Rockbass line. The new ones are significantly improved.
That's an older stock Warwick bridge......bent plate style

The old stock one seems fine. I purposely went with it because I like to do my own set ups, and I have no experience with the 2 piece.

I think the 2 piece looks awesome, but I didn't want to mess with it and screw it all up because I didn't know what I was doing.

Congrats on Rockbass! Back around 2009 my local music store had three Warwick's in stock ,two Thumbs and a Streamer Rockbass I tried out a Thumb and was really underwhelmed by the sound and playability. I thought if the German Warwick's was bad the Rockbass had to be horrible. Man I was wrong!! The neck felt great, If I has the funds I would have walked out the door with it that was a Killer bass at a great price!

Ah, yup, you're correct. I thought I remembered them using the even thinner bent-plate style, like on stock Squiers, but looking at images you're correct. The two-piece bridge is nice, but the beefier bent-plate ones are just fine too. Enjoy!
