I wont post the pictures since they are large, here are links, but

My sterling and my hh sr5 are my buddies. I have had several others that I have sold, and I still have my fender jazz (in its case, being ignored). The music mans get played.

I REALLY like the blue-burst 5! Nice basses!

Another day, another pic from my current top 10.....Here's my Yamaha BB3000A

Well, I'm actually at 11 right now, but I wouldn't consider some of them to ever be on any Top 10 list of mine. So, here's the ones that are my keepers, in order of how totally important they are to me.

1) '86 MIJ Power Jazz Special

2) FBB #020-00 fretless 6

3) FBB #1112-06 fretted 7

4) '68 Goya fretless J

5) '04 Dean Stylist hollowbody .... a new addition but quickly becoming a favorite toy for me. I haven't even taken my own pics of it yet

The Fender MIJ is my main sweetheart. She doesn't get played all that much lately, but that bass will never be for sale. The FBB fretless 6 is the absolute best bass I've ever owned, period. It is a work of art and craftsmanship.

The other basses not shown are a '60 Kay M-1 DB, a Conklin GT-7, an Ibanez AEB10E acoustic/electric 4 string, a G&L 2500, an MIA Jazz 5, and an SX SJB-57C. Most of these, except for the DB, are scheduled for the chopping block in the immediate future ......

Does the headstock on the MIJ Fender say "Power Jazz Special" or Power Z Jazz Special"?

We were just discussing that bass in another thread!

Well, it's not really a "Z" on mine, just a portion of the design that sort of looks like an extended "Z" on both sides of the word "Power" .... the G string is sort of blocking the lettering, but you can see what I mean. The design is exactly what you see on the left side of the "power" in the pic

I can't rank these in order, I love them all equally, which is a cool position to be in! I don't own a bass that I don't love right now.

Lakland 55-94. Interestingly, I wanted something that combined the best qualities of mimaz's #1 and #2 (I've had a couple of each), and this is it. At once modern and old school, its the perfect 5 for my eclectic tastes. Very sensitive dynamics allow me to hear all of my playing nuance on the gig, which makes me play better.

1971 Precision, natural with rosewood. Recent acquisition. So sweet in the highs and solid where it counts. An almost hollowbody-like resonance, really light weight.

1996 '62 RI Precision with Duncan Hot pickup. More of a strait ahead rock bass, really strong sounding with spank and cut in the highs. Sits perfect with grainy guitars and loud drums.

Hamer cruise USA 2-tek. I can't find a J-bass I like better than this. I tried some other pickups and ended up back with the stock set. Very punchy, grindy, and cutting ... less boomy than most J-basses.

2005 LE Sterling. Simply the best Sterling I've ever layed hands on. Every note on the neck has an even, solid growl. I bought this from a Tber, in a moment of stupidity I sold this to a local TBer, he sold it to another local TBer, I found out and conned the 4th owner into selling it back to me. Still has my strings on it :hyper:

Fat beams on the P-basses, hi-beams on everything else.
