How do La bella nickels sound and feel? Been curious about them, heard they're more like D'addario xlla bella nickel plated electric bass strings (not the RX series)
chromes - i'm new to them, and i can't get enough of them
these are the strings i often use - d'addario XL nickel wound 40 - 95s

I've used the stainless steel rx before, and that was really light in tension compared to the regular ones, I'll give the nickels a go sometime!i find them more responsive than d'addario XLs, both physically and tonally. i've used d'addario XLs forever, but to my ear and through my gear, there's a more defined top end on the la bellas but still plenty of bass. and they feel lighter somehow - i can't explain it but i have wrist, hand and finger issues, and the la bellas felt better.
again, i am referring to the nickel plated series, not the RX series, which are very similar to the XLs but are - to me - a little cludgier. the funny thing is that la bella says the nickel plated series is higher tension than their RX series, but while i don't doubt them, i didn't have to work as hard with the nickel plated series strings, so they were actually easier to play.
alas, la bella discontinued the short scales for the nickel plated series.
