Caramba! Kick me, somebody...I'm asleep!

The Adam Nitti comments reminded me about Alain Caron; ya gotta check out Caron's RHYTHM 'N' JAZZ. IMO, very well written tunes + all the chops you'd ever want in a Fusion disc.
Caron is probably the "cleanest" slapper/popper I've heard.
He has a new one...anybody heard it?

AND, my man, Gary Willis(I just got Tribal Tech's newest today, ROCKET SCIENCE)!
BENT, from '97, is a must-have!

Both of the above have Dennis Chambers on kit.
...and I'm still awaiting my Matthew Garrison and Paul Jackson cds to arrive.

Consider yourself kicked! Absolutely agree on the Alain Caron selection. I only have his first solo effort, as well a number of UZEB CD's. His tone was the thing that steered me toward Eden amplification. I have a Metro 2-10" and a 410XLT cab under it thanks largely to him.
I think he plays F Basses, too. Dont have one of those.
3 words describe his style to me...clean/tasty/clean&tasty. He reminds me a little of Jimmy Haslip. Maybe its the fretless vibe. And as far as Gary Willis, been there done that! Again, total agreement with your assessment. Got "Bent". Dont got latest Tribal Tech. I am a big D. Chambers fan, too (since Scofield's "Blue Matter"). Met & shook hands with Dennis at our local music store when he did a clinic there...Awesome power/chops behind the kit.
How does "Rocket Science" stand up to "Reality Check" which is my fave TT CD? Sometimes Scott Henderson gets a little too outside for my taste. "Tore Down House" and "Dog Party" are my two faves by him.
Only have Matthew Garrison on John Mclaughlin CD, again with D.Chambers on drums..mindboggling!

REALITY CHECK is one of TT's more "Rock"-oriented releases, right? Personally, I really like TT's DR. HEE(2nd album)...at that time, the band was more "tribal" than "tech". They had Bob Sheppard(saxes, flute)& Brad Dutz(percussion, marimba). That's what turned me on to them way back when...they could Rock, Funk it up, & then break off into some trippy island/Jazz vibe.

Anyway, about ROCKET SCIENCE(I've just started listening to it)-
Tune #1("Saturn 5")sounds similiar to what went down on THICK; TT doin' their version of late '70s Weather Report, but with a guitar.
The 2nd tune("Astro Chimp")is fuuuunnnky; Willis is playing some kinda envelope drenched figure(Q-Tron?). The drums are in in a New Orleans/Second Line kinda beat.
"Rocket Science"(4th tune)...whew! Just finished playing. Man, it smacks of funky/electric Herbie Hancock. Willis' opening figure is bad! He & Covington are really playing OFF each other...the guitar & keys poke in & out. Bad!
The tune eventually turns into a freefall...Rocks & gets out there!

Also, the liner notes are funny as Hell(per usual)...
Inside, there's an exchange between Willis & Henderson over their string preference.
On the back cover of the booklet, Willis, Henderson, & Kinsey have about 50-60 things listed after their name; for the remaining member, it sez-
Kirk Covington: Drums

...that's it!
