Envelope once in a while too...

It's all about the extra what it gives you. Top 2... don't know. I think the enveloper and the chorus. That's it. Compression... it's a bit luxury, but not necessarily a must-have imho.
 
For most people (who haven't figured out their sound or rig yet) i'd say OD/dist and Chorus - so much can be made from these two.

For me, it's Delay, Phaser and Octave(down). Dirt isn't as crucial anymore since my tube amps have been running properly and sounding phat.

Actually, if I had my way it'd be Delay, Delay, Delay, all day... :D
