Top Five Covers

Satisfaction - Rolling Stones
Superstition - Stevie Wonder
Long Train Running - Doobie Bros.
Mustang Sally - Wilson Pickett
I Shot The Sheriff - Marley/Clapton
Let Me Entertain You - Robbie Williams
Angels - Robbie Williams

That was 7, but at least 2 had already been mentioned so 5 new ones to the list at least. :)

I've really only played 2 shows but a couple songs that had great reactions were

at the first one (1st band)
Bad Moon Rising - CCR
Sink Florida Sink - Against Me! (pretty good singalong for people who know it and a lot of people there knew it)

2nd show (2nd band)
My Girl - The Temptations
Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
Twist and Shout - Beatles version (this is expecially great if you have a friend run up and dance on stage dressed as a gorilla like we had)

We introduced "Losing My Religion" by REM to our set a few gigs ago.

It always goes over brilliantly.

For our two shows this weekend we debuted "Alternative Ulster" by Stiff Little Fingers.
There must've been plenty of SLF fans in both venues as people went mad for it!

Other sure-fire winners are "Town called Malice" by The Jam,
"Valerie" by The Zutons
"Seven-nation Army" by The White Stripes.

We're a fairly new band, though we all have a lot of experience. Everybody in the band said "NO COVERS".... burned out from previous band experiences and such. Well we got an oppurtunity to play a show, and only had 5 original songs ready, so we agreed to learn some covers. And, all of us are really loving playing them, and the crowd loves them too. The thing is, pick covers that your band can actually play/sing well, and you'll enjoy them IMO.

(1)Like A Stone by Audioslave
(2)Show Me How To Live by Audioslave
(3) Plush by STP (recently dropped)
(4) Interstate Love Song by STP
(5) Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog (recently dropped)

Yes, our singer's voice is very Chris Cornell/Eddie Vedder-like.... we love it!! :)

My favorite covers list comes from Bryan316's band, JustDefy:

1) Live Wire - Motley Crue
2) Empire - Queensryche
3) Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden
4) Cowboys from Hell - Pantera
5) Creeping Death - Metallica

One of the only original bands I know that can cover such a wide range of metal and make it fit right in with their original material. Good stuff!
