She showed up with the whole family for my last gig at the Lion and Unicorn in Whitby and ordered dinner and drinks for all. That took a major chunk out of pay that night. Had to cry poor.....

Markham LnM has JUST got a gorgeous Dingwall ABZ 5 with wenge neck/fb....natural to black burst. Plays AMAZING.... i think it was 3600 bucks. Incase anyone is looking for a perfect bass.
Markham L&M seems to get a huge variety of basses. I will have to go there to check it out. Although my local is very good at getting in a reasonable assortment (but not as much as Markham appears to get).
Get divorced and you can earn and spend as you please...

Hey All, not sure if anyone seen my post about our gig on Sat night. We were playing at the Lion and Unicorn in Whitby and nearing the end of our first set the rooftop caught on fire and filled the place with heavy smoke. We scrambled out and I grabbed my Sadowsky and gig bag containing wallet, phone and car keys. Luckily no one was injured and we eventually got back in to get the rest of our gear.
Yikes! I didn't hear about that. Glad to hear everyone was OK - including the Sadowsky!
Also, I didn't see your post about playing there. Did you post here?
Wow! Glad everybody (and the gear) was safe. Do you know how the fire started?
Thanks for putting in the link! Fire started in the HVAC unit. The chief said they contained it in the unit so thankfully no hoses were used!
Well, it seems they liked us a few weeks ago as we have been re-booked for the 29th of June! If you are at all interested in a loud n sloppy rock band, come check us out!

PS... Glad there weren't any casualties resulting in the fire... but I think what everyone wants to know is if you got paid in full? LOL
The owner was going to stiff us. Our BL stood firm and was able to get half. Better than nothing.

Speaking of upcomers. I’ll be up with my band in Caledonia for the Black Top Hop (across from the local Firehall) to crank up Canada Day celebrations on Sat June 30th. Figure on one of those outdoor drunk fests ‘cept we’re the only band all night.

Glad everything got out safe and no one was hurt. Even without the fire itself - the smoke could've been seriously nasty.
Except that most bars who “host” live bands are not paying them legally and are also not fulfilling obligations to pay royalties on the music that is performed as required.

I got a gig coming up again finally too. Friend who is a guitar player got invited to play a short set at an open Mic at Grossman’s so we are rehearsing now for that gig. It is on July 22.
