Canada Toronto Ont. GTG......

Hey All, Drums and Flats in Ajax is going full guns booking lots of bands. We are playing their tonight and they have a Van Morrison tribute band for Saturday Night. Nice set up, big room. If you haven't been there since it was Safari's I would recommend dropping in. Not too many places to play that have a proper dedicated stage, lights, etc.

I second this venue......played there twice recently. Great sound, stage setup and sound man. They are becoming a big player in booking acts in our region.

Only downside is the load in downstairs.

Great venue but they fired the sound guy recently. They do supply the mains and a couple of small boards. I did forget about raising my Rig off the stage floor resulting in some mighty powerful coupling with the raised stage. Oops...
Good crowd though. We had a pretty big turn out.

A shot of our last show there.

It's unfortunate about Jeremy the sound guy. He had our settings plugged into an iPad and sound check was a breeze. We are back in September, hopefully they have a replacement in place.

I got a gig coming up again finally too. Friend who is a guitar player got invited to play a short set at an open Mic at Grossman’s so we are rehearsing now for that gig. It is on July 22.

Ah, Grossman's. Spent MANY a sweaty night playing music there. But they sadly don't pay enough to make it worthwhile. We were just young and dumb enough to accept horrible pay for the first few years!

Hey man! That place is awesome. I played there are a couple times. When it used to be "Safari Bar and Grill", my classic rock band "No Sugar" played they're on their big opening night back in the day. It was a pretty awesome show covering some heavy rock and roll down in the basement, and they had this chick who did this crazy contortionist stuff while dangling from a rope, good times..... :D Last time I played there was a couple years ago, doing a sub in gig for a country artist whose name was "Vanessa June Carter" I believe. She was a good singer and looked the part too. We played out on the patio and the PA was garbage, so her dad went out and rented one before Long & McQuade closed, but it was a fun show anyways. Nothing like learning 30 new country tunes for a one-off gig.....:smug:

Hey folks, hopefully the mods don’t slap me for this.
Just dropping this here if no one minds a heads up on some good local gear (shameless plug. They’re mine)
I’m putting a heads up here because I’m really interested in giving local greater GTA folks the chance to try out a relative rarity or two that gets great reviews.
If there are no local takers, I will release them to the wild in a couple of days.
Barefaced Two10 (I have too many good cabs)
DSM OmniCabSimDeluxe (I have two so one can go)
Darkglass Vintage Microtubes (I think I just like clean tones so I don’t use it enough)
I’m Im also on the fence about my D800+,my SubwayDI and my monocle comp.
PM me if anyone is interested.
Have a happy week.
Cheers.

Will delete post if any offence taken.

I think this is a great idea. Many of us have had some high quality gear pass through our hands and it would be great to keep some of it local so others can try it.

My thoughts exactly. Im probably pushing the rules a bit but I couldn’t think of a better way to let the local peeps know.
I think it is a fine line (rule wise) but I don’t think there is a rule against saying “planning to sell”. If you advertised them for sale here with prices or asked for offers on it I think the mods would take exception.

This is just my own interpretation of course. Not speaking for Mods or TB themselves.

great idea - even just a mention of items "coming down the pipe" then if someone is interested, maybe a PM would keep it all within the rules(?)... I also think when we keep things juggled between us locally, less chance for any unsatisfied people. Buying from the USA is a huge hit on us between exchange rate, duties, shipping. I havent had any bad purchases from the USA, just a tad wallet shocked by the time the items arrived.

I'm still loosing sleep over letting your Dusty Hill slip through my fingers! I sold a really nice bass shortly after and could have made it work. Do you ever miss that one? I hope it went to a good home. It stayed local too didn't it?

Yes I miss it a lot.
The funds went to a good home though. A Dingwall Z3. I really wanted a top notch 5er and it was the one thing I had that could make that work without gutting my gear collection. That hurt quite a bit. But Dingwall into Jule into Audiokinesis! (or Barefaced) Can’t beat it.
Yes it went to a local TB’er in Toronto.
