Flew a red-eye from SeaTac to Philly Sunday night, and snapped these about 30 minutes in over what looks like it could be another planet before sleeping the rest of the way >

...must have been some kind of liquid or propane gas tanker...the maze of tubing on the deck was stunning...(sorry, weakest pic of them all...)

And as the Glafkos sails on toward Lake Gatun, I caught sight of a basketball court!

Meanwhile, a mile? away, we’re watching a container ship from China make its way through the Nuevo Canál de Panamá!

I was 12 or 13 yrs old when I read an ‘antique’ book about the creation of the Erie Canal across central New York.

I was smitten!

Yesterday was the culmination of a trip I started when I was 12.
