You got so much history around you!

One of the Underground Tour operators here likes to start her funny tour shtick off by asking "Anybody here from Europe? Well, you guys are in for a treat, because we have some buildings here that are over a hundred years old! *gasp!*"

:jawdrop:;)

What I love about England And Europe in general is that you take care of your architecture and have preserved your history. Here in the states after 50 years you plow it under and build a strip mall.
the germans did there best to try to destroy coventry in 1940 the town centre was badly hit by heavy bombing

we have a road in the town centre its called medieval spon st the houses and pubs date from the 12 to about 18 century. spon st lost a lot of its houses in 1940 so what the council did was to move houses from else where in the city centre and rebuild them there. they have done a cracking job at rebuilding them. will take some pics when we can go out again

My folks endured stuff like this in Warsaw. Mom (bulging pregnant with my brother) escaped in a freight train car with my dad. I just can't imagine....

Wow. That's a stunning shot. Borrowing for my desktop background if you've no objection.

No objection in the slightest. I didn't pave these roads, but holy hell I love driving on them! I have some dashcam videos I plan to upload soon so i'll link them here when I do. Here's another pic from a few hours before:
