Usually when the flash on a camera is too close to the lens it causes the demonic looking red eye in humans, but because of the differences in dogs and cats peepers, theirs go green.I wish I was smart enough to help that poor dog’s eyes.

I think the red eye reduction camera works with a little light at the front which lights up just before you take the shot it makes the subjects pupils go smaller so when the flash go's off it doesn't reflect the light from wide pupilsUsually when the flash on a camera is too close to the lens it causes the demonic looking red eye in humans, but because of the differences in dogs and cats peepers, theirs go green.
Solvable on a big honkin D/SLR by attaching your separate flash unit to a bracket secured to the camera, essentially putting a few inches of distance between the flash and the lens. Not really feasible to add one to a compact camera or a smartphone with a built in flash.
Photoshop or some other touch up program is really you're only fix with these. Although some cameras offer a 'red eye reduction' feature, I'm not really sure how they even work.
