...a Great post! Thanks!I haven't really got anything spectacular to add to the thread, but here's a few shots of the Water Plant I'm currently assigned to. Construction began in the late 1930's, but due to delays (WW II) she didn't go on line until 1946.

I love the old architecture... this place, for those of you not old enough to remember "duck and cover" was a nuclear fallout shelter too. It would be insanely expensive to build another structure like this, which is why most modern plants are prefab concrete instead of wood and marble.
The front facade, relatively unchanged for 75 years:

Down in the belly of the beast, we call this the Pipe Gallery. It's underneath the Filter House. Like a Super Mario Bros. game.

Original cast iron spiral staircase that leads down to the Pipe Gallery. It's been moved twice since original construction... each time they added onto the building, first in 1954, and again in 1994, somebody thought enough of it to keep it.

Sometimes I think about the dozens of Operators here before me that must have trudged up and down these steps 4 times daily on walkthrough inspections.
Pizza makes everything better!
...a Great post! Thanks!
If there ever was a case of “They don’t make ‘em like That anymore.”...
