Sat ina Walmart parking lot, and spotted a guy waxing his car there
I had no idea these came in such a large size!

For someone that grew up on 35mm film and Ziess lenses, the latest phone camera technology is mindblowing. I don't like the form factor or the clunkiness of the software interfaces (despite what they say, you can't just point and click), but some of the results, albeit more 'lucky accident' over operator skills, are outstanding. These are from a recent trip to Sicily on a Samsung Galaxy S24:

This stuff grows like weeds on Etna at about 5-6.500 ft. - the smell is quite surreal:
Of course whilst good for capturing images of nature, the technology still can't prevent the impact of bad weather on aviation:

Tahoe in the background. Proof I dove it in the foreground (it's silly but kinda cool seeing the atmospheric pressure drop on the drive up):
Not really - stuff like that shows how shallow, and ultimately fragile, the atmosphere really is. We noticed a similar thing driving up Etna - the temperature at sea level was consistently 40°C but where the roads run out at about 2,000m it was 25°C and at 3,000m it barely made 20°C in the middle of the day.
