Hummingbird hawk moth?
Interesting, I thought it was called a humming moth as it flies just like a humming bird but thanks for correct name. They don't fly off like a humming bird and I actually got a great video too. Not the first time I have seen them in the area but pretty rare to see as they are so small.

I live quite close to the south coast of the UK and they visit sporadically. Some summers we might see/hear several in a week then nothing for a year or two. I guess it might depend on how things are in mainland Europe and if there is anything here worth the effort!!
