The northwest face of Fort Lewis Mountain, as seen from the little hamlet of Masons Cove, Virginia. (taken on my afternoon walk day before yesterday)

I've climbed that mountain many times the 14 years living here. Somewhere in this thread, I'm pretty sure I posted some pictures from the summit...

and the veiw from my hospital bed, two weeks ago this morning... this sign on the ceiling hit me funny. Maybe it was the morphine.

...but it coincided with this styish wristband I woke up with, and the alarm that went off if I tried.

Yikes!

Definitely YIKES, but all good now... Cervical fusion C5 - C7...

I started losing the feeling in the fingers of my left hand back in Spring. Spent the whole Summer getting ESI's (epidural steroid injections) just to get by. A rockstar of a neurosurgeon fixed me, Tuesday morning, two weeks ago. Like this, only I got two of them at once:

Believe it or not, they did all that through a 2 inch cut in the front of my neck. I just got the stitches out yesterday. Rehab won't start until the bones are completely fused together, which is another month to 6 weeks. With a little bit of luck, I might be back to playing by this Spring. Albeit on a chair or comfortable stool. But playing.

Yikes! Sorry to hear. Heal well. Modern medicine is amazing.

When we moved a metal shelf in my gal's garage... There was also a bunch of tiny babies :nailbiting:

Nobody detests spiders more than her :p

They hang out in my garage too. The good thing is that, like most spiders, they are not aggressive and just want to be left alone.

The scorpion in this jar fell out of an electrical cover plate that I removed from the ceiling while painting. The trajectory that it fell was across my face close enough to just feel it go by, almost ending up in my shirt. It hit the floor and ran. I captured it in a jar and took it outside where I released it. lol.

It's a bark scorpion, and I was stung by one last year. Trust me, I did not want that to happen again.

Yeah, getting stung by the other one last year was an experience I'll never forget. Literally like sticking a finger in an electrical socket. I don't even want to think about what it would have been like to get stung on the face, chest or head by that one as it fell. It was my lucky day, and it's lucky day as well. I have an agreement with poisonous creatures, if they don't harm me and I won't harm them. :)

Wow, both ordeals sound scary, and the sting thing super painful :nailbiting: I abide by the same 'just let me be' policy... although a lot of critters can be a PITA to humans, i feel they have a right to exisit (preferably in their own habitat, which is fast shrinking.) Ended up releasing the Widow in the adjacent vacant lot
Edit: bedbugs are the biggest exception i can think of :lock:

Here's a spiders work of art in the morning dew taken last year >
