Totally amateur recordings thread

I find this more soothing than all that New Age nature-type relaxation music.
Maybe you can start a new category: Sci-Fi/fantasy relaxation music!
So ... before I post this link, I need to explain a little bit.
I got a little tired of people asking for photos of my instruments and me, not having any. The truth is: I detest being on camera (I could tell some stories). So, very few photos of me and my gear exist.
Anyway, once I decided to get some photos taken (and dig out the instruments I hardly ever used), I figured I might as well make some videos so, I can just talk about the instruments instead of having to type it out, all the time.
That process started about three weeks ago.
Last week, someone posted a thread about KISS (finally [I probably stopped being a "fan" in 1992 or so]) coming to the end of the road.
I was working on the guitars video and came to one with which I have never truly been able to get along; a 2006 Epiphone "Goth" V. I have a few instruments like this; there's nothing wrong with them, they're just not "mine".
I have (what I think are) too many instruments and, if I don't really love some of them, I should just move them along. I've given away two instruments, this year (one a guitar and one a SR300) and I may just do the same with a few more.
I decided it's only fair to give these instruments which are "on the bubble" a reasonable hearing/trial. It's time to make a recording of each one; solo and in a mix. I can't use one of my own songs because they seem to be always evolving. I need a "measuring stick".
One of these instruments being a flying V, I decided I would go with a song that is very associated with that guitar (a song which I know very well). I settled on this song and, since I wanted to give the guitar a fair test, I didn't cut any corners.
The video tells the tale of which instruments, etc. So, here it is:

Not only are we amateur recorders, much of the video work on this was my 10 year old. 
He has been over my shoulder as I learn more about making videos and really understands all the parameters of a full sized camera now.

I’ve been using the mobile Bandlab app to collaborate with an e-mail buddy in England for a couple of years. This is one of his songs we started about two years ago and only recently completed, after some drumming assistance from another e-mail buddy we linked up with over on TDPRI, the Telecaster forum.
I played bass, England guy (Darren Tipper) sang and played guitars and keys (and did the YT vid), and TDPRI guy (JJ Rea) played drums...then we mixed it in Bandlab.

My 15 year old son put this together. He did it pretty much all himself: he just had me record the bass in the first part. He played the bass on the last section.
This is 4 power-trio choons, un-edited except a BV added here and there, and a cut-n-paste chorus guitar, and a tambo - otherwise, these is as is from last Saturday's jam. The new bassist's bass is a EBMM V into a PF50t and a 10" speaker mic'd with a RE320, the guitar (me) is Tele or Mascis Jizzmaster into a Bassbreaker 15 combo, mic'd with a EV609, 4 mic's on the drums (kick, snare, OH's) and a cuppla vocal mic's into a Zoom R16 in my living room (amps in hallway and kitchen). The guitar level on the first choon varies some as the board was newly made and unity gain not set - easy fix but I kinda liked it raw like that.

I haven't been in here in a long while, good to see it still going. Here's my latest effort, Stick and Board, feeling a bit Touchey. And sloppy.
Here is a little fragment of an idea. The main impetus here was trying out my new (and first) drum machine. I took a crack at coming up with an interesting beat, and put some bass on it. I might try make a little instrumental out this basic idea. We shall see.
I have been working on trying to get better at mixing. The little tune is one I have posted before: it features the three basses I own, all harmonizing together. I would like to post a "before and after" (original and then remix):

Normally I don't like the L/R hard pan, but it works here, so I actually prefer the first version. The tones sound more focused.
