If I am not mistaken the early made in Korea models start with the T serial numbers and are the models you want to look for.
Also 86 is up next Gkon
Well then, I'm in luck! My serial number starts "T08.....".
I will proudly accept #86! Thanks!!

I would also think all the new Chaos Cores being made now are coming out of Vietnamese factories.
According to the Traben site, the Chaos Core is a discontinued model. Never seen one born in Vietnam.
It's a real shame what happened to the trabens, they weren't real popular, but everyone one of the early ones I've had was an excellent, high quality bass.
Personally, I love the look of the bridge on my Phoenix. It was the main thing that first drew me to wanting to buy it. That and the flames inlay on the fretboard.
After playing it, I was further convinced.
Exactly what happened to me. When I first started playing, I was browsing musicians friend website and came across the traben array limited that really caught my eye.
After some research I tracked down the closest dealer which happened to be 3 hours away. They had a few arrays a neo and a Phoenix. As soon as I saw the phoenix in person I knew it was for me. Once I picked it up and played it there was no going back.
I will never sell my phoenix, I'm still experimenting with pickups/pre's to find my sound, but it plays sooo well I have no desire for anything else. Not to mention it has no resale value anyways.
Does your Phoenix have the stock, Traben pickups? I remember that for a few hundred dollars more there was
the option for upgraded p'ups (possibly EMG's?). I've always been curious to know if, in the end, it was worth the upgrade or not.
Mine has the stock p'ups.
Yes, mine HAD the stock traben electronics. They did make a Phoenix Custom that came with I believe Seymour Duncan pups. That's the model John Cooper of Skillet plays.
Very little info on the model anywhere, I've looked hi and low for one for years now.
Mine now sports an SD quarterpounder J and SD mm pickup with a bartolini pre.
Ah, yes, Seymour Duncans! Thanks for that info!
Do you see a big difference with pickups and pre that you installed?
I get a very strong, punchy sound from my Traben, but I haven't yet dialed in a sound I like. I don't quite know if it's the pickups and pre, or if it has to do with my not using it as my daily player, so that I haven't fiddled with it enough.
Same boat I was in, the sound was just good, not as good as I would like. In my honest opinion, the stock pre was just fine, I went with a bartolini because I wanted an active/passive switch and I just really wanted to try a Bart.
The stock mm pickup also was good enough to leave, I just got a good deal on the sd so I went for it.
The real improvement came in the j pickup. I was just never quite happy with the tone I got from it no matter where I had the knobs. The Duncan quarter pounder is a drastic change imo, in a positive manner. It now has that growl with a touch of trebly goodness I've been looking for.
Overall the sounds I get out of my phoenix now are absolutely monstrous, definitely a wise choice if you find yourself not 100% satisfied.
