TO THE OP
I just recently picked up a Traben Araay Obsession five.....Man this thing just rocks....the Rockfield pups and pre-amp are just the cats meow...seriously outplayed and sounded better than everything in the shop (Including Fender, G&L, Ibanez, and Godin) the neck feels very natural, the fret board plays like greased butter, and the sound out of these pups....wow......it also does active as well as passive....while i admit the bridge is a little cheesy i can live with it based on the sound i get out of this thing
So if your asking if a Traben will work for you the answer is
yes....IMHO
that said i played a few other Traben and while they felt good, the ones without the Rockfield pups did not sound anywhere as good to my ears.
i also own several ESP's which i also like......but totally different vibe, feel, and sound (EMG's) and as Darkstrike said i have recently put one of my ESP's and one of my lower end B.C. Rich's up for sale to fund the Traben Attack model in 4 string which also has Rockfiled pups....(yes I like them that much...can't say enough about them)
The most important thing is that you like the bass your playing....that you like the way it feels, sounds, plays, and looks...and don't care about what others ore going to say and don't care what is on the headstock
Don't be a part of the herd...play what you want....
One a side note have you guys noticed that it is apparently ok for the Fender mafia to down other brands, but notice how they get bent three ways to sunday when you have anything nasty to say about Fenders? (Double Standards)
There is a reason there are so many Bass companies out there....can you imagine how boring the world of music would be if we all played the same bass?
Let me say it again...
play what you like and like what you play...it's that simple
If a Traben does it for you....great
If a hot pink hello kitty Squier does it for you great too
who am i or anyone else to tell you your choice of basses sucks or what type of music you play sucks.....IMHO the people that do that are simply sheep that are too afraid to stray outside the box for fear of what others might think of them.....sad really
P.S. All the above are just MHO's and no one elses nor were these statements directed at any one individual...sheesh....grow up people this is supposed to be a place where bass players can hang out and be accepted by their own, not bashed because they don't or don't want to play the accepted norm
