TRACE ELLIOT?

hows this for basic...

7 band...SS head 7 band graphic eq
12 band...SS head 12 band graphic eq
V4 awesome tube head.
V8 awesome and really really loud tube head

:)

i think the history is. Mark Gooday, bought by kaman, bought by gibson, dismantled, bought and rebirthed by peavey

theres your basics...ill let the trace guys come and give better info

There's a TE mega thread (or two) that should educate you quite a bit.

There is a lot of history in the company I spose (at least for the time it ran/now runs).

Best thing I can say is.. They made one of THE very best sounding amps i've ever played through, and now luckily own.

EDIT: I've also recently put up a thread with V8 distortion clips in it (very rough recordings though).. It's a few pages back now if you want to have a listen :)

Trace has a few different sounds, all of which are extremely clean and full. I'm a fan of their V-Type pre-amp, and have 3 amps with that all tube preamp section. I prefer a simpler interface that just puts out a great sound right from the go.

Having tried one of the new series (peavey owned) out I instantly fell in love with it. Just everything about it, the way it sounded, the feel of the dials just conveyed quality (Im used to a MAG300 combo). Not only did it sound the business it looked amazing too, once I've got some money together I'll definately be purchasing one.:hyper:

I've been told that they are now Trace on the outside with Peavey internals, ie power stages and that they no longer support the old Trace gear.

You seem to be half contradicting yourself on one count and of course your reply regarding components was to be expected.

But, being an amiable guy I'll take you word for it.
Hmm, I fail to see any contradiction in his post? He said support for the older products was not what it should be... yet. That implies that they are supporting the older gear just not as good as they should.

Your comment in bold above... what are you trying to imply? :eyebrow:

Yeah, i'm a bit lost too.

Peavey is doing the distribution for trace, as far as I know..

my school has a really bright sounding old trace elliot head. 12 band, but the compressor is complete ass. i'll try and take some pics next week. is there like a "trace elliot history" site so i can go see how old it is?

I too would love to know if there's a TE website with info on specific models. I bought mine without any manual or documentation, and don't know much about it.

Let's leave it for a couple of years and then see if all the assurances bare fruit.

No one has made any assurances what so ever about supporting the older equipment so you can stop with the ill mannered insinuations. :rollno: If you have a personal beef with them then say it but don't come in here just to start trouble.

Anyways, to Edword and Niff, there isn't a site I know of that has all the details on Trace Elliot history. However, you can get some info from the user manuals which you can find here:[Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Hmm, maybe I should start a website about all things Trace Elliot since there isn't one? I'm definately a Trace fan and the info just can't be found in one place. I'll have to look into it.

The differnce between me and you is that I put my details on my profile so people know how long I've been around, through being in the business I've had inside info on more than enough companys to know the score, I've seen too many respected companys go down the pan when taken over by money orientated prople.
I used Trace Elliot from the beginning and sadly saw their decline throught various takeovers right down to the embarassing episode of recalling a complete range of amplifiers due to the corporate accountants putting money before quality! In the 80s I was supplied with Trace eqipment, Pre-amp, empty cabs etc to field trial speakers for Traces possible use.
The same thing is now happening at Ashdown, once again initialy a great company until corporate men in suits inch their way in.

Thanks for the link! I've already cleared up a couple of questions I had about my GP7SM 200

Hi I still have the manual for the 12 band smx (I think that is the model number) that the owner of Precision Devices (speakers for Turbosound enclosures) had Trace send me somewhere; I could probably scan info and eamail it to you if you can't download a manual.

I think you had better look at my profile again or you need to get your eyes checked. :eyebrow:

Why even try to cast a dim light on the future possibilities of Trace? For all practical purposes Trace was mortally wounded by Gibson and left to die in a ditch so to speak. If it wasn't for Peavey coming along Trace would be a dead brand. They have even reopened the old Essex facility from what I understand and recruited back a lot of the former engineers and employees. If they really just wanted the buck, why do that? They already had the name so why do the rest?

Give it a chance. All you have done so far is to show your extreme closed-mindedness to any possible future Trace has without any proof. :hmm:

I've just printed out the .pdf I needed, but I appreciate the offer just the same. Thanks!
