I have been working very diligently to try to transcribe Ray Browns cover of Theolonius Monk's Evidence. Has anyone transcribed this to paper or have any tips for me?

I have it somewhere, from some gigs that I did with Jon Hendricks; he sang the head! I'll see if I can find it. Rob Hurst does a solo bass version of it as well.

BTW, I have used a cool trick to find tunes on the web. I go to Google, and then search for tunes using the "image" function. Usually there will be a bunch of pics, lots of them seemingly unrelated, and always something vaguely pornographic, but most times, there's a lead sheet for the tune I'm looking for. I just tried it with the phrase "Monk Evidence", and it showed up right on the first page. Big fun....

That's very effective, nice tip. I had actually been looking for a chart for evidence, and a regular search brought up nothing I had the patience to sift through.

I'm working on transcribing PC's line to "Moment's Notice" and was thinking of digging into the Coltrane solo, since I listening to it over and over it was really catching my ear. Checked for it and someone has already done it for me. Very nice. I can concentrate on PC now.

Cover? I haven't heard that term outside of the pop world. Good for a grin.

My best advice is to do it yourself -- it's a better lesson that way.
