Double Bass Travel Bass EUB

I don't really understand why it is a kickstarter project. It looks basically hand-made, so once you have the jigs etc set up, you make them to order?

Are they available to buy now? Is there anywhere in Europe I could test play one before considering buying?
I'm seriously in the market for a practice double bass that I can use to practice in a Berlin apartment in the evenings without worrying about bothering family or neighbours.

Thanks Daniel,

In the first clip, my phone was right in front of the bridge, so maybe you're hearing the wires from the pickup rattle? I don't think anyone in the audience would hear that. But, it does make using a mic a bit challenging, since the instrument doesn't have the same projection a full size instrument has, you have to crank the gain and little sounds you normally wouldn't hear like that can get picked up.

Also, the impulse response pedal has a weird fuzzy thing happen in the very high frequencies. The sound team tweaked it in the house enough for it to not be an issue in the mix, but that's something I want to mess with as I get more familiar with the technology. But that's not inherent to the bass, it was something that happened when I started using the IR pedal. I do think it still warms up the sound quite a bit though. So it's possible that's what you were hearing?

Also, there are nodes (like wolf tone type areas on the bass) and resonant frequencies, just like a full size upright. I think on this bass it was somewhere between a Db and a D, but I don't remember exactly. It isn't too bad, I've played full size basses that are a lot worse, but it is a thing for this bass as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello Steve,
Thanks for posting these here. Very helpful indeed. The solo clip sounded very nice. I can see how in the right setting it could be worth it to actually mic it. Hope I don't sound too nitpicky but there was a bit of a fuzzy-buzz in the tone; could that have been from the amp or some other resonance in the room and not the bass itself? Its not like we dont all get those frequently with body buzzes and piezo cables loosening and making top contact, etc. But just curious if there is something inherent in the way it amplifies.
Thanks again and sounding great!
Dan

Anyone know availability and pricing on the travel bass. Is it close to production?

Also , can the scale length be customized at all?

D or E flat neck?

Adjustable bridge?

Come with Tripod? And does tripod fit in hard travel case?

Headphone jack?

thanks

Hello there, have any other TBer played one of these eub? One is available around my place and I am thiniking about upgrading from my palatino to play at night. Is it loud? Is it comfy? Mr Whipple seems to have a ball with it and the sound sounds ... rather uprighty ... According to you, does it worth the extra budget to practice? I have a Romanian urb for weekends and holidays. Thanks!
