I'm really fascinated by this design, a Traynor YC810:

I'm building a 2x12 cab right now and am thinking of building an 8x10 right after that, can one of the experts here enlighten me on what can be the down- or upsides to this configuration? And would it be ideal to separate pairs of speakers? I doesn't seem logical to me that it is efficient to have these 8 speakers in one big compartiment.

At least four downsides, no upsides. The single compartment is the least of its problems, though still significant.

I owned two YC-810 cabinets over a 25 period of years, driven by a Traynor Custom Special YBA-3. I used them with my 73 4001 for most of those years.

My opinion is, this is a great sounding "old school" cabinet. Don't judge it if you haven't played through one. Pete Traynor was a very creative individual.
