I thought I start a small thread about this incredible amp that punches above it's weight.
After playing it in the house for a day, I took it to a rehearsal in medium sized church
here in St. Louis with Guitar, Piano, Vocalist, and Bass. The week beforeI had just brought
the bass, but knew that when the show went to the Blue Strawberry, here in St. Louis
I'd need something on stage for a back line. The sound was terrific at the rehearsal, so at that point
I had to decide whether to take my MAS 1/8 v1 or bring the new Traynor SB/106.

I took a gamble and took the Traynor because I'm familiar with the size of the room and it's particular
sound. We did a full on rehearsal in the space the day before the performance, with no FOH
and once again the bass sounded full, warm, and articulate. So, I decided to take it as my
backline for the performance, knowing we had a tech rehearsal well before the performance
so, if something felt off, I could run home and pickup the other speaker. Once again the
Traynor did a remarkable job as the onstage amp, we pulled the bass entirely out of
the monitors and only sent the DI from the Traynor to the house. The amp did a
marvelous job of filling the stage, everyone loved the sound. So it was a success
Is it a MAS 1/8 no it isn't, would it fill the stage like the MAS 1/8 no it does not,
but it's a great little amp for smaller tight spaces with Double Bass. I received no
compensation from Gollihur Music for this post or any others for that matter.

I continue to be amazed by this tiny titan. I used it last evening at a choir rehearsal for Robert Ray's Gospel Mass, in a medium sized church. It covered the room (churches tend to have pretty good acoustics, at least the ones I play in do)
Everyone could hear the bass clearly and it filled in it's space in the mix. I was using my Lakland 55/94 Lined Fretless and Mirecourt Double Bass. No issues.

While it would be an unfair contest to pit the 106 against the MAS18, I did just put together this little puppy;

Does anyone within spitting distance of Cincinnati have a 106 and want to do a side-by-side?

I’m in St.Louis so that’s a pretty far piece. Based on what I have, and what I hear. My educated guess is that the rig you have will sound different than the
single 6.5 driver in the Traynor SB 106. It’s more mid forwards than the MAS 1/8’s I own but it’s still a great amp.

Oh I have now doubt they will sound very different. I just think a side-by-side would be interesting, in terms over comparing overall sound levels and how the different cabs react. If you're ever coming through cinci, bring your 106 and drop me a line:)

‘We’ll the possibility certainly exists. So, if happen to be passing through Indianapolis on my way to visit my mom in Muncie, I‘’let you know

I noticed Gollihur Music doesn't carry this amp any more but it's still listed on the Traynor website. Perhaps @Mark Gollihur could share the reason behind this. My guess is that it wasn't big seller and they are making room for the Phil Jones line they recently started to carry.

Sorry, folks! There was a stock count error in our system, which caused the amp to drop off the website. It was brought to my attention, and I put it back up there. We're down to our last SB106 at the moment, but I have a dozen more on order that should be here in 7-10 days or so. We're still carrying it, it's still a great amp! (So are the SB110 and SB112!)

Does plugging into the external speaker out mute the internal speaker ? I seem to remember that when this amp first came out the power was limited to the internal speaker to 50 Watts or something like that and plugging into the speaker out muted the internal speaker. Now it seems you're getting the full 8 ohms power to the internal speaker according to the specs. Maybe @Mark Gollihur can clarify?

Yes, can confirm - using the external speaker jack mutes the internal speaker.

The SB 106 is 200 watts at 4 ohms. The internal speaker is 8 ohms so @134 watts. The 200MB was @80 watts into it’s 12” speaker if i remember correctly. Another significant difference is the GK is a infinite baffle while the Traynor SB 106 is rear ported. Just my take however

I actually like traynor amps more than any other amp and cab I have ever tried on double bass. I have a sb 112 a sb 110 and will get sb 106. Money has not been an issue and ive tried just about everything. These amps have some flaws but the pros exceeds the cons in my opinion
I also have the SB112 and love it for jazz gigs in larger rooms, and blues gigs on upright and electric.
