Traynor SB110 and SB112 questions

Question: I’m interested in the SB112 and am curious about its… I don’t know the right term… noise floor?

I have a GK MB115 II combo and, frankly, it’s kinda “hissy”; theres a constant “draft”-like noise coming from the speaker when it’s Gain is up to 11 o’clock or more. Then when you engage the tweeter it’s even worse, like a high pitch hum or buzz begins.

Some of it seems to be fan noise - especially when turned up very loud - and while it’s not unbearable - if only ever used to jam with friends in a garage it’s fine - but if a guy ever wanted to use it for recording, forget it!

So my query is how quiet are the Traynors? Do they have issues with hiss or hum? Do the tweeters buzz or are they pretty quiet?

I can confirm after playing that the SB112 runs very quietly. I detected a faint buzz that I’m pretty sure came from the bass I used (I got it through my big old Peavey rig, too, though it remained faint until I engaged my compressor pedal), and the tweeter picked up more of it than the 12” did by itself, but it was only there if I really listened for it. No “hiss” to speak of.

I found the tweeters separately noisy too at first, goes away after a few hours of use.

Zombie thread resurrection! I am about to pick one up, and am excited to see how it works on the gig! I have Trickfish, Mesa, GR Bass and Acoustic Image stuff. All awesome, but are component systems. One less thing to mess with!

Ok...got it. Sounds GREAT against a wall or in a corner. A great grab and go if you teach...IYKYK that whole experience of schlepping an amp.
I would gig with it if it was a piano trio on doublebass. It sounds really warm and full...it just needs another hundred watts to be used in a louder environment. You gotta play with the eq, but it can work in low volume situations.
I A/I'd it against an AI clarus SL with a GR Bass AT110. Different league entirely, but if I was going to play slab in a jazz trio, the Traynor would definitely cut it. Upright? I would need more juice, personally. I sold it to a very good budding student who LOVES it.

I don't understand why Traynor doesn't offer this with their 200 watt head, or even dropping in their large block and meatier 10" 4 ohm speaker, they would have a killer grab and go solution, or an 8 ohm with a speaker out, since the 100 watt version doesn't have one.
