Traynor TC 208 Neo

I picked one of these up yesterday. I love the size and weight of the cab, and the tone is nice, clear and warm, I guess. But, by the time I get it up to a usable volume for jamming, it starts to fart. I realize it's a 2x8 and I don't expect thundering lows. But it is useless for jamming due to the farting. I will be returning it in the next couple days.

I have been super busy and haven't been able to post anything for the past little while...sorry, guys. In store, connected to a Traynor SB200, the TC208 sounded perfect, as the SB200 only puts out 200w @ 4ohms, I am assuming, approximately 150w @ 8ohms? It didn't fart out at all as the 150w:200w ratio provided just enough headroom...headroom is ALWAYS key to achieving a desireable bass tone. I presently have it paired with a TC210 Neo, which is rated 400w @ 8ohms, the tweeter on the 210 turned up to noon and the 208 tweeter almost completely turned off...these are connected to a Markbass Little Mark III 500w head. Since the Lil Mark only has one SpeakOn out, I connected the head to the 210, then parallel out to the 208 and I honestly did not need a compressor at all. I have FINALLY matched the bass tone my ears are hearing, to the bass tone I hear in my head...low end growl, mid punch and singing highs. I can't wait to gig it this weekend!!

I know I'm late to the game, but teh tc112 neo is an EXCELLENT cab. the 208? why bother?? the 112neo is roughly the same weight, sounds infinitely better, and is more efficient (Based on my one listening test of volume comparison and quick tone test at the store).

And that is stock. My tc112 has an aftermarket emminence deltalite 12 neo II... and that makes the cab quite noticeably more efficient and better sounding. Total price is higher, sure, but the end result is I only need to carry this one cab around with me for any but the most gigantic gig, at which I would get a backline anyhow.

tell me more about this speaker upgrade...
While I still enjoy my TC112, I've acquired the long-sought-after TC210neo and... yeah, I'm pleased.

nice! I've been looking for a neo 210 for over a year, one popped up about an hour away. made it happen real fast.

I've got it sitting on top of my regular 210 now as a vertical array. I kinda want to use the 12 with it but... i found the 210 and 112 didn't sound great together.
I *may* have to rehome that 112 and continue the search for a second 210 neo

I've been trying to find a TC210 Neo to go with my Neo 15, but I may have to just go with another 15 for the stack.

After reading what I could find, I didn't really see a reason why Traynor stripped back the Neo cabs...does anyone know?

I think I pretty much outlined the upgrade - it's just the speaker upgrade, but it happens to be extremely compatible and a significant upgrade over the already very good stock 12 neo that came with the traynor cab.

the speaker is so efficient - not just in the honky midrange like some speakers, but in the bass region where it's toughest to be super efficient - that driven with a solid 200 watts of power at 8 ohms, it easily competes with my guitarist's various choices of 4x12 elite cabs he plays through with 100 watt tube heads, also super high end models - his tone is giant, and very loud (he plays with ear filters always), and I'm singing and playing which is challenging because I can't use filters and sing in tune... but anyhow, my amp is easily louder and cleaner than the amps I try at rehearsal studios and clubs until you get to big backlines.

Wish I could tell you more - I haven't done tests on this cab for a couple years now.

Yep....I rented one a while back and almost bought it. I probably should have. A great grab and go cab that can handle power and is a rock solid build. If I ever come across another I will definitely grab it.

I think I am set for life now...still have the Orange TB-500...with that, plus the SB200h and these 2 cabs will be more than enough for anything I'll ever participate in...
