I apologize in advance as this question is related to a 6 string guitar and not a bass. If it helps, I am a bassist at heart and the guitar in question matches the bass rig that I gig with. These forms are the best in my opinion and I cant help but ask for input from my people (instead of going to the dark side of 6 string forms lol).
With that out of the way, I have a SG standard with two humbuckers in it. I am currently running it with treble bleeds that came in a wiring harness that I ordered for it. I am super happy with the sound of the neck pickup. The treble bleed adds loads of range and it can get some borderline single coil tones with the volume rolled low. That neck pickup is incredibly blues and I love it.
Problem is the bridge pickup. It simply has too much treble. SGs naturally have more treble than les pauls (in my experience) and I am sure that is part of it. I doubt that is all of it though. I am worried the treble bleed is just too much in my setup.
I am wondering if it is possible to only remove the treble bleed from the bridge pickup while leaving the one in the neck? I guess the biggest question is how the middle position would sound with both pickups? Would it work? Is that possible? Is that a stupid terrible idea (feel free to give it to me straight lol) ? Would anyone guess that it would sound good or guess that it would sound bad?
