Tricked Out Squier Club Part 2

mines aint too tricked out but nowadays its sporting better pots, volume/tone/switch setup. got good old alpha pots and a mechanical 3-way gibson style toggle

Finished modding my Squier VM Mustang today.

Nordstrad NM4 pu's (dremel'd holes in pu covers to expose pole pieces), All new Fender 250k CTS pots, Switchcraft input jack, Conductive shielding paint in cavities, AllParts Maple bell knobs and a custom Birdseye Maple pickguard w/ Black screws. Strung up with R. Cocco 40-100 Nickels. :cool:

Hello Talkbass !!

First ever post !! Been following threads like this one for months, learning how to trick out my bass... and here's the result (got it back from the guitar tech yesterday) Thanks for all the info guys your awesome !!

Squier vintage modified jazz bass - Badass 2 bridge, Seymour duncan sjb3 quarter pounders (sound incredible). Cts pots, orange capasitator and switchcraft jack. Also got a fender black pearl pickguard and filled it to fit into the neck and control plate :D

P.s incredible bass taylorplayer, the body is beautiful !!

Dimarzio area j's, new pots with an orange drop tone cap, and bone nut...

soon to come... babicz fch bridge...

possibly to come... new tuners, fender logo, and a coat of clear coat finish on the headstock and front of the neck...

Yay, I can join this club! Kinda.
I have a Affinity Jazz V, came in that naff electric blue.
Now it is matt black, sans pickguard and the headstock is also back, but sports Y O K in those chromed, fake car badge letters...

I still am unsure of what pickups to put in it, I am up for suggestion!

dont know.
i would guess with any 5 string pickup, some work would need to be done on the affinity body.
IME affinity pickups are shorter than standard fender sizes, which aguilar are.
so the pickup cavity would need to be modified.
aguilar has the exact specs on their site, you could measure them up.

Stock Fender 5 string pickups drop right in the Affinity. I had Noisless pickups in my Affinity V for a while. No mods necessary.

VM all the way. Better hardware, if you want to swap tuners, the Affinity has dinky sealed tuners, not real bass tuners IMHO, I friggin hate those skinny barrels, a bass tuner needs to be at least a half inch. My Epi Tbird has that crap on it and DR Sunbeams broke right at the bend on the E while installing them. A very hard wrap if you want flats too. Sure you can redrill, but to keep the strings running straight past the nut requires plugging, layout and.... Meh, just get the VM. Great pickups too, if they are to your taste, better than Affinity's pups.

Almost totally untrue, although I'd opt for the VM first.

Not many/all of the Affinities have those small tuning machines.

There are the greater number of them with the larger Fender-style tuners and the big (although barreled) shafts and open gears.

I know - I have a couple of them and they even share the same part numbers as many of the Squiers and MIM gear too.
